The ReChords, where did they come from? ......someone starts with a "hey, I think I'll put a new band project together" and before you know it, 'Kapow'...one Guitar pickin', Upright Bass slappin' Rockin' Hillbilly outfit appears.
Since the 'unofficial' demise of a former hot rockin' combo 'Hank's Jalopy Demons' became effective in the Winter of 2008, it was decided that enough time had passed, the people were losing all hope in Melbourne. There had to be a glimmer of life left in that old genre that many fans love, traditional Rock-a-billy.....so the search began.
Firstly, we needed a fresh set of vocal chords for the Australian rockin' scene that had not been heard.... and along came Leo Francis all the way from N.Z. (CHECK!)
Next, there needed to be new life injected into the twangy, pickin', fret slidin' Lead Guitar element in Melbourne.... the call was answered by local Perth picker from the Salt Flat Trio fame, Felix Potier! ....(CHECK!)
Then last but not least, add the strong and steadfast rhythmic section of the Upright Bass played slap-style by one Tyron Shaw, of note worthy breeding from such previous combos as Hank's Jalopy Demons (Vic), Matt Dwyer & The Magnatones/Little Big Band (Vic) and The Slingshots (Qld) ......(CHECK, CHECK & CHECK!) There you have if folks! A trio who have combined the raw passion for 'roots' music and unleashed talents of shared vocals, harmonies and obscure Rock-a-billy, Hillbilly and R&B influences to entertain those who wish to embrace the band they will come to love and know as...... THE RECHORDS.
So grab your copy of their debut album "ON THE WAGON" now and stay tuned for a limited release Vinyl EP later in the year. And if you like the album, you can enquire with the band about obtaining an earlier recording which was a limited release out on 'PRESS-TONE RECORDS' (Melbourne, Australia), a split CD with nine previously unreleased tracks from Perth (Western Australia) 3 piece, "The Salt Flat Trio" and six tracks from "The ReChords" recorded 'Live' at Hailstone Studios.
